Because of the difference between Pontiac/Olds bolt pattern as opposed to Chev, are there any off the shelf performance turbo 350s available forthe former? I've tried to find out from B&M Catalogue but can not find a part number.

I'm not sure, but you'd think they would cater to a large market share...BOP trans fit three different manufacturers, lots of market in that combined number I'd think.
You might have to email their address or call them up.

One is Trimatic and the other is Chev Turbo 400/350.

The late model (late '70's) T/350 comes with dual bolt pattern.

A friend of mine had so many BOP pattern T/350's that he used to offer a service to drill the back of V8 Holden blocks to accept the BOP gearbox so he could sell them to Holden owners.

Why did they even make 2 bolt patterns anyway?? Or, if they had to have 2 bolt patterns, why not make the trans with a detachable bell housing like a manual trans?

Steve, I know the trimatic bolt pattern is different to the BOP, because my mate used to drill trimatic blocks to fit the BOP trans.

Does anyone sell a nice 700R for a Pontiac? I had one in my 64 Malibu and it was sweet - 2400 rpm @ 100 kph.

The 4 speed auto trans with o/d for the BOP engines is the 200-4R. I'm happy to be corrected on this, but I think you'll find a lot more guys in Australia who can build a strong 700 rather than the 200.

My friend has had lots of issues getting hte 2004R box in his camaro right...its been in and out a few times.
You can buy a kit to put a TH700 behind a Pontiac engine....little more work than a 2004R, but out here you're more likely to get a better job on the box.

There's a guy in the US, who's name is Steve Chin. He's a bit of a 2nd gen guru, and I'd believe what he says.

According to him, '70-'75 hoods interchange '76 Formula hoods are 1 year only.

The TH200-4R is also one of the dual pattern trans, chev and BOP. Its a 50/50 choice, the 200-4R will bolt up with a lot less mods in the space the 350 was, but the 700's would be much more familiar with local builders and access to parts, but as said they are a chev pattern trans.

Leigh, do you know what issues exactly? To do with the OD solenoid and locking up? Not that I need to worry about that just yet!
